Credit to: Conde Nast Traveler – CNT EDITORS

Condé Nast Traveler readers ranked the 30 best islands in the world outside the U.S. in the 2018 Readers’ Choice Awards survey, “from far-flung stunners in Southeast Asia to volcanic outcrops in the Mediterranean. This year, we’ve broken them out by region: the best in Asia, Australia and the South Pacific, Caribbean and the Atlantic, Europe, North America, and best in the rest of the world (phew).”

Immerse yourself in the rich and colorful culture of this bewitching island. Enjoy the scent of blossoms on the soft morning breeze, and notice the exquisite daily offerings of flowers and tropical fruits everywhere. Listen for the strains of the gamelan in the background, and keep your eyes open for the endless processions en route to myriad temple ceremonies.

Unlike most Indonesians, the people here are predominantly Hindu. Volcanoes cluster in the center of the island. The tallest is Mount Agung, Bali’s spiritual center and the location of its most important temple, Besakih.

The dynamic city of Lautoka is the main hub for Fiji’s sugarcane industry, which in the early 20th century attracted a significant number of Indian immigrants and endowed the region with a distinct ethnic character. A terrific example is the highly ornate 1926 Sri Siva Subramaniya Temple, the Southern Hemisphere’s largest Hindu temple and a highly photogenic cacophony of vivid colors.

You’ll be enchanted by the Garden of the Sleeping Giant, where actor Raymond Burr of Perry Mason fame gathered over 2,000 varieties of orchids.

An airier version of the United Kingdom endowed with tropical flair, the Bermudan archipelago holds a surprising number of compelling attractions across its minuscule landmass. In the UNESCO World Heritage site town of St. George’s, wander cobblestone streets steeped in colonial history, perhaps pausing at the quaint 17th-century St. Peter’s Church, the oldest Anglican house of worship outside of England.

Be sure to take a stroll along one of Bermuda’s renowned pink sand beaches, the result of crushed red shells mingling with sand to astonishing effect.

St. Vincent & The Grenadines

Carriacou boasts some amazing coral reefs and is a dependent of Grenada. It lies north of Grenada island and south of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines in the Lesser Antilles. Carriacou Island sometimes referred to as the land of the reefs, is the largest island in the Grenadines archipelago in the Windward Islands chain.

The island is 13 square miles (34 km2) with a population of 4,500. The main settlements on the island are Hillsborough, L’Esterre, Harvey Vale, and Windward.

Mykonos is one of the most visited Greek Islands. It is part of the Cyclades group and lies between Tinos, Syros, Paros and Naxos. The island spans an area of 85.5 square kilometers (33.0 sq mi) and rises to an elevation of 341 meters (1,119 feet) at its highest point. Mykonos is so incredibly beautiful; it is not surprising that it has become one of the most desired destinations in the world.

When you also add the cosmopolitan lifestyle, the sophisticated nightlife and the historical treasures of the nearby Unesco Awarded Delos you’ll have the recipe for an unforgettable holiday.

Tucked away in eastern Crete’s Gulf of Mirabello, the laid-back town of Agios Nikolaos grew up around a picturesque saltwater lake connected to the sea by a narrow channel. Steeped in myth, the lake is said to be bottomless as well as the legendary bathing spot of the goddesses Athena and Artemis. These days, you’ll find terrific tavernas serving freshly caught seafood lining the stone path that encircles the lake.

Snug beaches such as Kitroplatiea and Amnos break up the town’s waterfront, providing marvelous views across the glittering gulf. A few minutes up the road, the chic resort village of Elounda boasts a marina where colorful fishing boats bob in the waves.

Ibiza town is the largest city on this 3rd largest Balearic Spanish Island. It lies 79 kilometers (49 miles) off the coast of Valencia, in eastern Spain. Ibiza has become famous for its incredible nightlife and the electronic music that originated on the island.

This UNESCO awarded city has some great land adventure options including resort golf, wine tasting, exploring the Dalt Villa and mountain biking to name a few. We try to stay late in the evening so guests can also get a taste of the nightlife.

After a six-year absence, the boutique luxury cruise line will be returning to Istanbul and the Black Sea. Additionally, due to the popularity of the recently announced 11-day voyage to Israel in May 2021, SeaDream has added a second Israel voyage in October of the same year.

The Black Sea voyages feature many highlights, including an overnight in Odessa, often considered the “Pearl of the Black Sea,” where guests will be able to climb the Potemkin Steps and step back in time to the Russian Orthodox period as they enter the Ukrainian city. In Turkey, SeaDream guests can explore the always magnificent Istanbul as well as visit the vineyards and beaches of Bozaccada and the former capital of the Ottoman Empire, Mudanya. Other Black Sea ports of call include Varna and Burgas in Bulgaria, and Constanta in Romania.

Amongst the many notable attractions found in this unique city are the Church of Saint Cyril and Methodius as well as the Sea Garden, a large park with sculptures and monuments, to name a few.

Odessa, Ukraine

Commonly known as the “pearl of the Black Sea,” Odessa is a major tourism center and seaport in Ukraine. Visit the striking Potemkin Stairs, the formal entrance to the city and the best-known symbol of Odessa.

The city was founded in the 1700s by the Russian Empress Catherine the Great and later became an important port for the Soviet Union. Today, the city of Odessa is best known as a beautiful summer escape with sandy beaches and a captivating history.

Mudanya, Turkey

The charming town of Mudanya and district of Bursa Province is one you’ll surely relish. If you appreciate prehistoric landmarks and sites, head over to Derekoy Kilisesi where you will find the remains of the untouched Greek Orthodox Church. Don’t leave Mudanya without visiting the Tombs of Osman and Orhan, where the renowned father and son of the Ottoman Empire are buried.

The pastel colours, sunny climate, pretty beaches, and beautiful people are all here in the south of France.

While visiting you can explore some of the hill towns and visit the award-winning rose wineries. SeaDream also recommends to visit neighboring Grimaud and Port Grimaud or just a little further out golf at a few highly rated courses. SeaDream anchors just off the break wall and tenders directly to the pier downtown.

“One of the pleasures of a SeaDream visit to Saint-Tropez is the private wine tasting experience on a small square during market day. Anyone passing by La Cave du Golfe wine shop on picturesque Place des Herbes during one of these landside moments could easily mistake the excursion as a private party of friends. That is the SeaDream way,” says writer Robert La Bua.

2021 Mediterranean Season Now Open

June 20th, 2019 by SeaDream Yacht Club

Reservations for SeaDream Yacht Club’s 2021 Mediterranean season are now open.

For the first time, SeaDream will sail to Israel’s bustling town of Ashdod, which provides easy access to Israel’s most important cultural hubs, Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. Additionally, SeaDream will return to the Black Sea for the first time since 2013 to explore Turkey, Bulgaria, Ukraine and Romania.

Meticulously curated itineraries and six new ports of call, the 2021 season will ensure new and returning guests embark on an unforgettable experience as they uncover the Mediterranean’s most mesmerizing destinations in the French and Italian Riviera, Greek Isles and the Spanish coast.

Ashdod, Israel

The bustling port town of Ashdod provides easy access to Israel’s most important cultural hubs, the cosmopolitan city of Tel Aviv and glorious Jerusalem. In Tel Aviv, explore the White City, a vast collection of exceptionally preserved Bauhaus-style buildings that has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage site. Step into beguiling artists’ studios and galleries in neighboring Jaffa, a town of densely packed streets that is possibly the world’s oldest port.

Haifa, Israel

In ebullient Haifa, you’ll be dazzled by one of the most meticulously maintained parks in the world, the terraced Bahá’í Gardens, where each tree, flower and even blade of grass is lovingly tended by followers of the Bahá’í faith. This UNESCO World Heritage site, which is dotted with ornate buildings and fountains, lies at the base of Mount Carmel. For exceptional views of the city and the shimmering sea, ascend further up the holy mountain aboard a cable car, alighting at an ideal lookout near the Carmelite Monastery of Stella Maris.

Ksamil, Albania

Seadream will be heading to Albania in 2021 to Ksamil. Cherish a rare opportunity to visit this almost unknown, picture-perfect destination, a resort village uniquely situated within Albania’s Butrint National Park.

Embraced by the narrow Strait of Corfu to the west and the saltwater Lake Butrint to the east, Ksamil offers ample opportunities for exploration both on land and in the sea. Near the main beaches, several small islands emerge from the impossibly crystalline water, readily accessible by kayak, paddleboat or even an energizing swim.

Saint-Cyr-sur-Mer, France

Resplendent Saint-Cyr-sur-Mer is ideally situated in the heart of the Côte d’Azur, with a plethora of quintessential French towns within easy reach. Discover the breathtaking city of Marseille, whose striped Basilica of Notre-Dame de la Garde is crowned by an immense golden statue of the Virgin Mary and Child.

In genteel Aix-en-Provence, follow the trail of Cézanne through leafy squares and promenades sprinkled with bubbling fountains. The artistic ambiance also extends to Cassis, whose evocative landscapes have been immortalized on canvas by the likes of Paul Signac and André Derain.

Otranto, Italy

The easternmost town on the Italian mainland, Otranto enchants with its medieval architecture and relaxed beachfront atmosphere. As you approach the modest façade of the town’s 11th-century cathedral, admire the delicately carved rose window, a preview of the wonders found within, which include an extraordinary mosaic floor known as the Tree of Life. The imposing Castello Aragonese invites exploration both along the ramparts and in the dry moat, a perfect vantage point from which to admire the fort’s massive cylindrical towers.

Agios Nikolaos, Crete

SeaDream believes in authentic experiences that allow guests to enjoy the world’s natural beauty while preserving its resources and promoting sustainability and responsible travel.

SeaDream Innovation is the world’s most advanced hybrid ship being built today that will sail to all seven continents. SeaDream has received a grant for USD $1.8 million for the creation of the revolutionary vessel from Enova, an organization owned by the Norwegian Ministry of Climate and Environment that is responsible for the promotion of environmentally friendly production and consumption of energy. Enova strongly supports SeaDream and this new mega-yacht given its creative and sustainability-focused approach to energy and climate technology.

“We are extremely grateful that Enova supports our environmental efforts. Without this solid support from Enova, this would not have been possible,” said Atle Brynestad, owner of SeaDream. “We are proud to contribute to the cruise industry by taking the lead in developing more environmentally friendly vessels that will also sail with the Norwegian flag. We are committed to having a positive impact on the environment, our employees, our guests, our suppliers and the places we visit. February 19th, 2019 by SeaDream Yacht Club

Offline is the new Luxury HYGEE (hue-gah) The word hygge comes from a Norwegian word meaning “wellbeing.” Hygge is a calm, comfortable time with people you love. A complete absence of frustrations, or anything emotionally overwhelming, often enjoyed with good food and drinks, warm blankets and candlelight – a Zen moment! Offline is the new luxury. With a stressful and demanding everyday life – having the opportunity to complete relaxation is rare. SeaDream will explore the concept of hygge in an upcoming transatlantic voyage. American Spa highlighted this unique and interactive experience. “Guests will have the opportunity to try hygge-inspired recipes, such as hygge chocolate petit fours. To make it interactive, guests even have the option of creating their own petit fours with guidance from SeaDream chefs. Attendees can also look forward to a wine tasting with master of wine Conal Gregory, who will select various vintage wines and cognacs from the SeaDream’s Dream Cellar. He will also assist in pairing the wines with food from the yacht’s menu,” wrote journalist Rylee Johnston. Don’t miss out on this one-of-a-kind experience on SeaDream.

SeaDream: this boutique cruise feels more like a super yacht

January 30th, 2019 by SeaDream Yacht Club
Credit to: Jo Fernandez – Evening Standard

Think a cruise, isn’t for you? Think again…
SeaDream Yacht Club was featured in the Evening Star with a fantastic review from a first timer on SeaDream saying, “‘It’s yachting not cruising’ is the motto of these yacht-style cruise ships, which offer the ultimate in boutique cruising. It’s a good-looking vessel with the feel that you’ve snuck onto someone’s private yacht. Champagne and canapés welcome just 112 guests in total, many who’ve sailed on the two SeaDreams before,” wrote Jo Fernandez. SeaDream calls it Dream Cuisine, where we are dedicated to offer the best experience possible for each of our guests, with a wide selection of gourmet dishes to the only “raw food” or “living food” menu at sea. “There are menus swelling with inventive dishes including what as far as I know is the only plant-based ‘raw food’ menu at sea. I’m not a vegan but I’d often mix elements of this menu, which includes dishes such as Watercress Tang, a liquid blend of watercress, Anjou pear, lime and pineapple and vegetable lasagna, made from layered spinach leaves, sweet coconut meat, spicy cauliflower mash and sun-dried tomato marinara with (conversely) tender lamb cutlets and amazing curries – the nationalities of the crew reflected in the menu.” Like the rich and famous, you will find SeaDream in the Mediterranean during spring and summer and calls on the Caribbean for autumn and winter. If you have not had a SeaDream experience yet, what are you waiting for?

Grilled Chili-Lime Salmon

January 10th, 2019 by SeaDream Yacht Club Signature Dream Cuisine ideally enjoyed onboard but we are giving out our salmon recipe for you to enjoy at home with friends and family. We love eating salmon not only because it is delicious but for all of the health benefits with an excellent source of high-quality protein, vitamins and minerals (including potassium, selenium and vitamin B12). Spark up the grill, grab the apron and pretend to be anyone of our amazing SeaDream chefs! Grilled Chili-Lime Salmon Ingredients
  •    4 salmon fillets with still intact, about 6 ounces/170 g each
  •     2 teaspoons/10 mL fresh
  •     Lime juice
  •     2 cloves garlic, minced
  •     1 teaspoon sugar
  •     1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  •     1/2 teaspoon cumin
  •     1/4 teaspoon salt
  •     1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  •    4-6 lime wedges
1.  Preheat grill for medium heat. Right before placing the fish on the grill, oil the grill grates well-using tongs, folded paper towels and a high smoke point oil.  Make 3-4 passes across grates to create a non-stick surface.  This is particularly important when grilling fish, as it tends to stick to the grates and break apart.
2.   Place Salmon in the shallow pan, Combine 2 tsp lime juice, spices, sugar, and garlic. Spread mixture evenly over fillets. Let stand until grill has heated up properly.  If you do this ahead of time, place seasoned fish in the refrigerator for a maximum of 30 min.
3.  Place salmon skin side down onto grill & cook indirectly for about 18 to 20 minutes, or until internal temperature at thickest part of fish reaches between 145-150 degrees F. Remember not to turn the salmon when it is on the grill. Once cooked through (an internal temperature of 145 degrees F.), remove from grill and squeeze fresh lime juice on each fillet before serving.
  Good Luck and enjoy!
